My Favorite Images of 2019

February 6, 2020

Now that January is over, I feel like 2020 is actually here and we can get on with this year!  And since there were approximately 747 days in January, I had time to comb back through my 2019 photos.  I love looking back through my images because they remind me just how special each year is.  I’ve pulled some of my favorite images from 2019 to share with you.  Some are from travel, some are from special projects, some are of families, and some are personal.  Some of these images have people smiling and looking at the camera, some are looking away, and others don’t have faces in them at all.  They were all taken at different times of day and during different seasons throughout year. But each one speaks to me, and I love them all for different reasons.  They aren’t in any special order because I’m a type 9 on the Enneagram and can’t please everyone (ha), but I have grouped them into categories: personal/travel, special projects, and portraits/lifestyle.

Personal/Travel

Now that I’ve looked back, I noticed I didn’t take as many personal pictures last year as I would have liked.  And the ones that I did take, I didn’t finish editing.  It happens.  I’m definitely going to make it a point to take more personal photos this year.  Here are some of my favorites from last year.

Boston Public Library: I mean, what is not to love about that photo: the natural light, the amazing architecture, the beautiful detail, and alllll the books.  Just looking at this makes me want to go back.

Growing Up Gold: Four of my favorite people at one of my favorite places, my alma mater.  I was super honored when USM asked if they could use this image in their Growing Up Gold campaign.  I mean, aren’t they just the cutest little Golden Eagles.

Sequins & Stuffies: For Ella’s birthday we did a photo shoot.  Most kids have a favorite stuffy that is usually a docile animal/creature.  But not my girl.  Her favorite is a gray wolf.   Of course she asked if she could take one with “Wolfie”.  He is her best friend, and she takes this thing EVERYWHERE.  I rolled my eyes and obliged because as ragged and crazy as it looks, I know she won’t carry him always, and now I’m happy I have this picture of her and Wolfie.  It definitely shows her personality: a little bit diva, a little bit wild.

No. 9: Greyson loves baseball, and he loves to “coach” and encourage his teammates just as much as he loves to play.  He has an intense passion for all aspects of the game.  While some are playing with water bottles and guzzling snacks in the dugout (which is most 8-9 year olds), coach Greyson takes his perch to watch the game and cheer on his teammates.

Special Projects

This gig has definitely afforded me opportunities to meet some amazing people and to push myself creatively.  These are just a few of the projects that I got to be a part of this year.

New Beginnings: I love this photo for so many reasons.  They are the sweetest family and had just bought a new farm to build a new dream, their very own Christmas Tree Farm.  I was so happy to take their family photos for them on the day they were to plant their first trees.  They love the Lord and others well.  They will care and tend those newly planted trees, making sure they have everything they need to grow and thrive and bring happiness into the world, just like they do for those precious children.  I’m so excited to see where this new adventure takes them.  Follow @honeycreekcompany to see when you can visit them!

Boss Babes:  This amazing group of women were all here for a conference in Nashville and asked if I could take some pictures for their girl gang.  Any time women are building one another up and investing in one another, I am HERE. FOR. IT.  They were so fun, and their community over competition mentality is something to aim for.  See what they are all about here. @thebabe_campaign

Behind the Scenes: This past year, I helped one of my best friends launch her own business.  We spent many hours dreaming, talking, and taking pictures in my little home studio.  I love this photo because it will always serve as a beginning or starting point for it.  Years down the road we will look at this photo and say, “Remember when…”  It shows how things aren’t always clean and organized, and it features our little assistant.  Our girls are a big reason we pursue these dreams, to show them what girl power and will are capable of.  You can follow this fashionable dream and come see us if you are in the Nashville area @welldressednash

A View from Above: I’ve been taking photos for the Eutaw Construction, the company my husband works for, for almost two years now, and it has been so much fun.  This photo was taken when concrete was being poured for a new bridge here in Williamson County.  I mean, when else can I get in a boom lift over one hundred feet up in the air at sunrise to take photos?  Watching projects like this being built makes me appreciate their work and dedication to things that most people take for granted.  Learn more about his great company here. @eutawus

Yogaful: Another one of my besties, Kelli, started her own yoga brand this year.  We set up shop in my little studio and documented her killer yoga skills.  She has dedicated so much to her practice, and I am so grateful that she shares it with us.  She truly is one of the best yoga teachers I’ve ever had.  If you are in the Nashville area, you should definitely check her out! @yogaful_

Portrait/Lifestyle Photography

I was able to photograph so many wonderful families throughout 2019.  I won’t go into detail about all of them, but it is truly an honor any time I am asked to photograph a family or be there for a special occasion.

Of course maternity, newborns, and babies are always fun.  I’m so glad that I can get my baby fix by loving on these sweet babies, but I still get to sleep through the night 😉

Pets were a huge part of so many sessions this year.  It was so fun to meet these furry family members.

And last, but certainly not least, some of my favorites from my families, children, and senior galleries.  Honestly, this gallery could be four times this size, but, you would get tired of scrolling.

Thank you so much to all of my 2019 clients and friends!  I can’t wait to see you all again in 2020!

xoxo,

Gabbie
